Library check-out policy
- Students may check out up to 5 books at a time.
- Books are checked out for three weeks at a time and may be renewed as long as no one else is waiting for the book.
- Some reference material and periodicals may be checked out overnight.
- Students may also check out audio books (PlayAways) for 2 weeks.
- Interlibrary Loans are available to all students, faculty, and staff.
- Students are welcome to come into the library without a pass before school, at lunch time, or after school to read, complete classroom assignments, use computers, or just browse.
- Students need a pass to come to the library during class.
- No food or drinks are allowed in the library.
- Library follows school dress code and other rules.
- Be courteous and polite.
An interlibrary loan (ILL) is a service where an individual may request to borrow a book from another library if it is not available at their own library.
Interlibrary loans at Bowie High School library are available to students, faculty, and staff, but only from within other school libraries in the El Paso Independent School District.
Loan periods for an ILL are the same as the regular collection. If after two weeks the borrower continues to need the library material, then a request for extension must be made to the lending library.

The library has 28 computers with Microsoft Office where students may save their research on a flash drive or on Office 365. The following rules apply to student computer use in the library.

Students have access to the secure online databases, GALE and Encyclopedia Britannica.
The multimedia lab is housed in the library and teachers may also bring students into these two labs if available. Please call, email, or Skype Ms. Briones to reserve the library table area, computer lab, or book checkout time.
